Judiciary an Independent Body: Ayatollah Yazdi

TEHRAN Substitute leader of the Tehran Friday prayer Ayatollah Mohammad Yazdi said here the Judiciary is an independent body which would not be influenced by any individual or group.
Addressing thousands of worshippers gathered in the Tehran University campus for the weekly congregational prayers, Ayatollah Yazdi explained the official procedures in dealing with the court file cases and issuing the sentences for the offenders and asked how could those who are not expert in law judge the nature of verdicts issued by the Judiciary and term them as a "kind of violation".
He said anybody who has access to some platform should avoid directing criticisms against the Judiciary before the latter proceeds to issue verdicts.
Elsewhere in his speech, he referred to the recent meeting of the heads of the three branches of the government and the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei and said as far as the reforms are concerned, the Leader stressed the eradication of poverty, discrimination and corruption as three main axes of the true reforms in the country .
Underlining the necessity for the officials to make further efforts to uproot the poverty in the society, he said campaigning against the poverty is within the obligations of the government as is mentioned in the Constitution.
Ayatollah Yazdi who is a member of the Guardian Council pointed out that the Americans do not want Iran to abide by Islam and the pro-American writers and individuals in their writings or speeches support the objectives pursued by the United States.
The reforms are part of the nature of the Islamic Revolution, he said and called upon the students in the universities and the cleric students in the theological schools to continue to play their key role in leading the events in the country.
Commenting on the political life of the divine prophets, he said those who say the politics should be separated from the religion are wrong since in Islam the religious and governmental affairs are not separable from each other.
He also condemned the Israeli massacre of the defenseless people of Palestine and said the Zionist regime of Israel commits these ferocious acts under the protection of the United States.
He said the Sharm el-Sheikh meeting does intend to deviate the public opinion so that the blood of the Palestinian martyrs be stamped on.
He concluded by saying that Yasser Arafat is not the representative of all the Palestinians and he is not competent to decide on the fate of the Palestine on behalf of the Palestinians.
